Antrim Community Choir joined “Singers from across Northern Ireland joined voices for BBC Sing!” Solo singers, choirs and vocal groups rehearsed for weeks, bringing community halls and spaces across Northern Ireland to life with the sound of music as they joined voices, with each county led by its own choral professional. These were our musical director Una McCann in Co Antrim, Michael Harris in Co Armagh, Kirsty Orr in Co Down, Mairead Duffy in Co Tyrone, Maurice Kelly in Co Londonderry and Keith Acheson in Co Fermanagh. Listeners can hear the results of BBC Sing! on BBC Sounds See the full story here and watch a video of one of the Co Antrim performances (link to Facebook).

2024 Sing for Joy (hosted by Antrim Community Choir and led by our Choir Leader, Una McCann) was a wonderful event (15 June 2024) – Choirs from all over, including Dungannon, Ormeau, Ballymena, Glasgow. The singers were taught songs by the different leaders, Una McCann, Shona Brown (SoundRoutes Singers), Máiréad Duffy (Gathered Voices), Donal McCrisken (Cavehill Community Choir), Clare Galway (Féile Women’s). Several of the choirs performed from their own repertoire.

After a lovely super we had an amazing concert given by The Henry Girls who generously donated prizes to the Raffle (to raise money for Metal for life NI). The evening ended with an Open Mic where once more Community Choir members demonstrated their great talents.
